Taking friction out of technology for 250,000 clinicians and staff.

Onboarding, provisioning, applications and devices were slowing down a workforce of more than 250,000 clinicians and staff across eight regions. I owned product strategy for endpoint technology and set direction around the employee's experience.

45%

faster time-to-productivity for employees

250K+

clinicians and staff served across 8 regions

The challenge

Getting a new clinician or associate productive depended on a chain of devices, accounts, applications and approvals owned by different teams. Every handoff added time, and every failure meant rework.

Technology that should have been invisible was getting in the way of patient-facing work.

The approach

  1. 01

    Start from the employee

Set product direction around the moments that matter to people: the first day, a new device, an application they need now.

  2. 02

    Align the owners

Brought Engineering, Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, Operations and UX around one direction and roadmap.

  3. 03

    Modernize and automate

Led modernization of internal tools, self-service platforms and provisioning workflows, focused on usability, automation and scale.

  4. 04

    Measure what changed

Tracked build, install and provisioning performance so improvements were visible and defensible.

The outcome

  • Employee time-to-productivity improved by 45% through redesigned onboarding and provisioning experiences.
  • Software installs that took up to eight hours dropped to 35 minutes, and device builds went from more than four hours to 53 minutes.
  • Provisioning success rose from 74% to 93%, and the platform supported more than 48,000 installs in a single year.
  • Infrastructure optimization I helped drive removed 624 servers, saving $514K a year in operating costs and avoiding $1.6M in capital expenditure.
