About
Strategic enough for the boardroom. Close enough to ship.
I’m Carl Woodruff. For more than 15 years I’ve led product, technology and transformation work, inside global enterprises and as a consultant.
Across all of it, the job has looked similar: walk into something complicated, work out what’s really going on, get the right people pointed in the same direction, and stay with it until the work ships.
I started Woodruff & Co. to do that work directly, for leadership teams who want senior product thinking without the overhead of a large firm.

Background
Enterprise depth, founder instincts.
In the enterprise
I've led product at Coca-Cola, Kaiser Permanente and Cox Communications, and technology partnerships at Fiserv. Organizations that size taught me how decisions really get made, how to align people who don't report to each other, and how to deliver change that has to work for hundreds of thousands of people.
In consulting
At Synechron, a $1B+ global consultancy, I led the North America Product Practice, responsible for practice strategy, offerings, go-to-market and product leadership across client engagements. Seeing the same challenges across many organizations sharpened my sense of what actually moves them forward.
As a founder
I've also built companies of my own. That taught me what large organizations rarely do: how to move quickly with limited resources, learn directly from customers and make good decisions with incomplete information.
How I work
Four habits, every engagement.
Get close to the work
Watch how people actually do their jobs before designing anything. The real problem is rarely the one in the request.
Evidence over opinion
Make decisions with the best evidence available, and go get more when the stakes call for it.
Strategy has to ship
Direction only matters once teams can execute it. I stay with the work until it does.
Leave teams stronger
Build the ownership and ways of working that hold up after the engagement ends.
Why clients work with me
Senior leadership, without the layers.
Senior attention, start to finish
You work with me directly, from the first conversation to the final handoff. The work is never passed to a junior team.
Enterprise judgment, founder speed
I know how large organizations work, and I move with the urgency of someone who has built products from nothing.
Strategy that reaches the build
I build with AI and modern product methods myself, so every recommendation comes with a practical path to execution.
Tell me what you’re working through.
A complicated product decision, a stalled initiative, an idea worth testing or an AI question you want a straight answer on. The first conversation is just that: a conversation.
